31.08.2020 - "We're already in to week 4 of our forth cohort and our six students have already developed a tight-knit bond.
It's been a busy start to the programme and we've covered a wide range of topics from Health & Safety to Nutrition & Hydration. They've been very quick to pick up the basics of the chainsaw - already able to identify the safety features and their functions as well as take them apart, perform maintenance tasks and reassemble again.
All inductions are complete and they are near ready to transition from learning in the classroom, to learning out in the bush under the guidance of our experienced tutors & Log 9 crew.

We're in to Week 5 of our programme and our rookies have forged strong bonds amongst themselves and with tutor Richard Stevens also.

This comradery is having an astounding effect on our learning environment with 8 out of 10 students holding 100% attendance (no one under 87.5%).

This week they've been up sharp and ready for the 4.30 / 4.45am pickups and are soaking up every bit of knowledge passed on from Rich and the Log 9 Mentors out at Mangatu Forest.

Morehu Tangaere is one of the eight students with perfect attendance. We will be following his journey closely over the remaining 15 weeks...

On February 10th, 2020 - Ten keen, young students began their logging journey (NZ Certificate in Forest Harvesting Operations Level 3) - This is ManaiaSAFE's 3rd cohort and we are once again pleased to be delivering this course alongside EIT Tairawhiti.

We covered a heck of a lot in the first two weeks and have already built strong relationships within the group.

We will document their journey (for those who are not camera shy) and share it with you all so you can find a bit more about who they are, who we are, what we do and most importantly - WHY we do what we do!

The school has been operating now (24th Dec 2019) for just over a year, and we have successfully delivered practical training to two groups of rangatahi seeking a safe transition into the industry.
